Sirens blare in Israel’s southern cities as Hamas continues its rocket barrage from Gaza. Missiles have been fired at Jerusalem and Tel Aviv. Israeli Defense Force’s (IDF’s) anti-rocket system “Iron Dome” shot down a number of them over the Holy City. It is the first time rockets from Gaza have traveled that far into Israel.
“Sirens, interceptions, and the rising Palestinian death toll from IDF strikes in Gaza marked the third day of Operation Protective Edge,” says the Jerusalem Post.
During today’s fighting, more than 100 rockets were launched by Palestinians into southern and central Israel. And while the IDF urges residents of Gaza near the border to leave their homes, it has been confirmed that Hamas is using human shields to protect their weapons. IDF has verified that rocket fire from Hamas is coming from civilian areas of Gaza. They have also discovered posters using an Arabic play on the words “Operation Protective Edge” encouraging Gazans to be “heroes” by standing on their rooftops as human shields.
Please pray for this terrible situation. Pray that this warfare would be quickly brought to a close. Pray for the peace of Jerusalem and all Israel. Pray for wisdom for Benjamin Netanyahu, IDF officials, and all innocent bystanders in this crisis. Pray that people’s hearts, on both sides of the border, will be turned to God – the only true God.
