The New Year is upon us, and we just wanted to take a moment to say THANK YOU for the thousands of lives you helped touch with Yeshua’s love in 2016. Through your generous support and prayers, you helped us take the Gospel of Messiah Yeshua (Jesus) throughout the world. Along with the Good News, together we also provided life-saving medical and dental care, sight-restoring surgeries, clean water, and education to prevent the spread of disease to people who so desperately need it. Thank you for being a part of another wonderful year of ministry to Jewish people and their neighbors.
Here are a few highlights of what you helped make possible in 2016:
In Tach Gayint, Ethiopia, you helped us take the Gospel to the severely persecuted Beta Israel Jewish people. We hiked to two villages and saw an entire village pray with us and profess Yeshua as Messiah. Your support enabled us to treat 11,625 patients in our first medical clinic to this area. In Tach Gayint, we met a boy with a life-threatening constriction to blood flow. His condition required surgery, and for the first time at a JVMI medical clinic, we had general surgeons with us. The surgery they performed saved that boy’s life.
In Mberengwa, Zimbabwe, because of you, we were able to provide badly-needed medical care to 8,499 people from the Lemba community and their neighbors. You helped us see that a baby named Comfort who was sick with fever and breathing difficulties was transferred to an area hospital where we ensured he would receive the treatment he needed. Because you helped us be there, a man named Matthias prayed to receive Yeshua before he died at the clinic of complications from AIDS.
In Gondar, Ethiopia, your partnership with us allowed us to treat more patients than ever before in a five-day medical outreach: 13,950! With your help, Isely, a 40-year-old single mother of two received trachoma surgery. She traveled over two hours by cart to the clinic, and now her pain is gone. You also helped Alemnase, a widow with six children who feeds her family by waiting outside restaurants to retrieve the food they throw out. She and her children get sick when they drink dirty water, but when they use the LifeStraws® provided by Jewish Voice, they feel much better, and their stomachs don’t hurt.
In Gutu, Zimbabwe, you helped us provide medical, dental, and eye care to 12,026 patients during the week-long medical clinic. Because of your support, we were there for a woman who had been very sick for three months. She came to us on a cart pulled by a donkey, and with your help, we were able to arrange for a blood donation and transport her to an area hospital for a life-saving transfusion. We also helped Marange, a 58-year-old woman who left home at 1:00 a.m. and walked over 15 miles to the clinic where she had a bad tooth pulled, saving her from dangerous infection.
In Israel, you came alongside us to provide 570 pairs of eyeglasses to needy Holocaust survivors and others living in poverty. As this distinct generation grows smaller every day, you have helped ease their latter years through vision and dental care they cannot otherwise afford. Thank you for your compassion.
You helped us go to Masvingo, Zimbabwe for the first time where we saw some of the longest lines of patients we’ve ever seen. Thanks to your support, we gave 9,783 people medical care they couldn’t receive otherwise. You also helped us provide clean drinking water through distributing 6,730 personal LifeStraws® and 74 Family LifeStraw® units.
Through your support, you were there with us in Hosanna, Ethiopia as we distributed 10,000 personal LifeStraw® water filters to provide almost 4 years worth of clean drinking water. You helped us treat 12,372 patients in Hosanna, the first of which was a pregnant woman named Terfach who walked for four hours to arrive at the clinic before we were even open. A short time later, we welcomed her baby boy, Emmanuel.
In six medical outreaches and our clinics in Israel, you helped us treat a total of 68,787 patients. Even more importantly, because of your partnership with Jewish Voice, 4,691 people professed faith in Yeshua as Messiah!
Throughout the year, your support also helped us share God’s heart for Israel and the Jewish people, combat anti-Semitism, and encourage the faith of millions through our television program, social media networks, and email ministries.
