We are midway through our medical missions week in the capital city of Ethiopia and our staff is catching us up on the exciting things going on there.
The group arrived safely into Ethiopia and in good spirits. As the medical missions team was making its way through customs with the medical bags, the x-ray machines suddenly went down and we were able to move through customs quickly. All of our equipment made it with no issues. The eye team arrived later and their operating microscope was held for a couple of days. Late last night, it was released and we are starting the day with a fully equipped ophthalmological suite with three (3) operating rooms running. Many lives are being impacted with the help of our international team of 58 and our local workers team of 130.
Along with our normal clinic schedule we have a pilot program of young Messianic leaders from the US and Israel. On Monday and Tuesday, they spent time with the local Messianic congregational leaders. Wednesday, a few of them were able to visit a local orphanage and minister to the children for a few hours. They are now working in various clinic positions and will join Jonathan on Friday at the Africa Union as he continues his two day conference with over 650 influential evangelical leaders.
The team has had a successful start to the medical missions week. In the first three days of our clinic we have seen many people receive the blessing of help to which they would not otherwise would have access.
As we continue on with the week. Today (Thursday 1 May) we have a record number of people waiting to be treated at the hospital. Please pray for the following:
